Gerry then moved to Aston Martin, Edinburgh, where he and his team were awarded Leading Aston Martin Garage status in the UK. His work at Aston Martin involved prepping of the first eve DB7 for the motor show. Gerry's career in the motor sports sector continued to flourish, and he was now in charge of preparing ex-works Toyota GB Group A Celica GT4.
It was at that time that Gerry went freelance, while continuing to look after the Celica's GT4 and Group 4 Mark II Escort, before moving to South Africa, to gain further experience in rally cars.
it was in South Africa that Gerry became involved in R&D, building and testing of the Super Touring Car engines, and met Pieter de Veerdt of Dastek South Africa.
The relationship flourished, and upon Gerry's return to Scotland in 1998, he set up the business that would subsequently become Dastek Uk, and going from strength to strength. |
